Geyser Leak Detection

Ref Detection service

A geyser leak rarely appears where the water does. Overflow trays, relief valves, hot-water pipes in the ceiling and the cylinder itself all fail differently. We test the installation as a system so the repair targets the actual failure point rather than the stain on the ceiling.

Symptoms we test for

What this looks like on site

  • Water staining on a ceiling below the geyser
  • Hot water running out far sooner than usual
  • Dripping or running water heard in the roof space
  • Damp brickwork on the outside wall behind the geyser
  • Electrical tripping linked to the geyser circuit

How the survey runs

Five steps, no exploratory demolition

  1. 01

    Geyser compartment inspection

Tray, overflow, vacuum breakers and electrical isolation are checked for the obvious failures first.

  2. 02

    Hot-water line tracing

Acoustic listening follows the hot-water line through the ceiling and walls to the point of loss.

  3. 03

    Thermal confirmation

Thermal imaging confirms a hot-water signature where a pipe or cylinder is leaking behind a surface.

  4. 04

    Report and repair scope

You receive a written finding with photographs so your plumber or insurer has a clear scope.

FAQ

Geyser Leak Detection questions

Still unsure? Call the 24/7 line or send a WhatsApp and describe what you are seeing — we will tell you what test is needed.

Can a leaking geyser be repaired or must it be replaced?

That is a plumbing decision, not a detection one. We identify and document the failure; your plumber advises on repair versus replacement.

Do you isolate the geyser during testing?

Yes. The geyser circuit is isolated safely before we pressure test the hot-water lines, and we restore it afterwards.

Is a geyser leak an emergency?

It can be. Water in a ceiling can compromise plasterboard and electrical fittings. Call our 24/7 line on 069 268 0988 if water is actively running.
