Pool Leak Detection

Ref Detection service

Evaporation is not a leak. Before anything is dug up we measure the actual loss, then separate the shell from the plumbing. Bucket testing, pressure testing of the suction and return lines and dye testing at fittings give a defensible answer rather than a guess about the paving.

Symptoms we test for

What this looks like on site

  • Water level dropping faster than a bucket left beside the pool
  • Wet or sinking paving around the pool
  • Air in the pump basket or lost suction
  • Persistent algae or chemical imbalance in one area
  • Cracks, loose tiles or a soft patch in the shell

How the survey runs

Five steps, no exploratory demolition

  1. 01

    Loss measurement

A marked bucket test over 24 hours quantifies real water loss against evaporation.

  2. 02

    Plumbing isolation

Suction and return lines are plugged and pressure tested to separate pipe leaks from shell leaks.

  3. 03

    Fitting and shell inspection

Skimmer, light niche, main drain and returns are dye tested; the shell is inspected for structural defects.

  4. 04

    Written finding

You get the measured loss, the confirmed source and a repair scope your pool company can price.

FAQ

Pool Leak Detection questions

Still unsure? Call the 24/7 line or send a WhatsApp and describe what you are seeing — we will tell you what test is needed.

How much water loss is normal for a pool?

Roughly 5 mm to 10 mm a day in hot, windy Highveld or Cape conditions can be evaporation. A bucket test tells you whether your pool is losing more than that.

Do you repair the pool as well?

We detect and report. The repair is carried out by your pool contractor using our marked location and report.

Can you find a leak in underground pool piping?

Yes. Pressure testing and acoustic tracing locate underground line failures without excavating the whole terrace.
